Prof. Dr. Martin Wiener
Martin is Professor of Information Systems, esp. Business Engineering at TU Dresden as well as an Affiliated Researcher at the Stockholm School of Economics Institute for Research, Sweden, and the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany.
He received his Diploma degree in Information Systems (2004), his Doctorate in Business and Social Sciences (2006), and his Venia Legendi in Business Administration (2015) from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. His doctoral thesis on IS offshoring was awarded the Dissertation Prize 2007 of the Alcatel-Lucent Foundation. From 2007 to 2009, Martin worked as a strategy consultant with an international management-consulting firm in Munich, Germany. After his return to academia, he became an Assistant Professor in Information Systems at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, where he also served as the Managing Director of the Dr. Theo and Friedl Schöller Research Center for Business and Society. Martin has been a Visiting Researcher at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand (2010), the Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden (2011), and the University of Central Florida, USA (2013). During the academic year 2013-2014, Martin worked as Program Director for a new Master Program in International Business at the Stockholm School of Economics and was Visiting Faculty in the Department of Management and Organization (DMO). From 2015 to 2019, he was Associate Professor in the Information and Process Management (IPM) Department at Bentley University in Waltham, MA, USA.
Martin’s research concerns data-driven business models, IS project control and IT-mediated control, global IT sourcing and ICT-related overload, and has been published in leading journals such as European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), Information Systems Journal (ISJ), Journal of Information Technology (JIT), Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), Journal of Strategic Information Systems (JSIS), MIS Quarterly (MISQ), and MIS Quarterly Executive (MISQE). He currently serves as Associate Editor for Information Systems Journal and as Editorial Review Board Member for Information & Management and Journal of the Association for Information Systems.
